1.
What will happen with the bell?
On Thursday, April 6, 2006, the bell was lifted
by a crane out of the rubble. Pastor Gorman,
armed with a heavy hammer, struck the bell.
The bell did not ring, and it had 3 visible
cracks in it and cannot be repaired. The bell
was taken by Lee Manufacturing where it will
be refurbished to be on display in the new church.
Reverend Kusler also took part in the bell ceremony
and had the opportunity to strike the bell.
2. What happened to the cornerstones?
The box within the 1891 cornerstone fell apart
as it was removed. Its contents were damaged
by water. Found in the box were newspaper
articles, a Bible, and a Catechism. The 1991 box was opened at our picnic in August of 2007. All three of the cornerstones (1891, 1991 and the keystone over the old main entrance) plus a 2008 cornerstone will be put in place in the northeast corner of the building on Tuesday morning, May 27th, 2008
3. What is happening with the blue
house?
The blue house was purchasedt by our congregation. It has been torn down to make space for parking. We also owned the lot to the west.
4. Where is the building project
at?
The Building Committee interviewed 6 architectural
firms over two 4-1/2 hour nights. They picked
their number one choice on Monday August 21st.
Groth Design Group of Cedarburg has been chosen
as the architect. They have designed the building and it is under construction. It's due to open by mid-September 2008.
5. How long will this process take?
Once the architect is under contract we will
begin the process of interacting with the
congregation for the purpose of providing
input. We will also look at developing an
advisory group(s) or we’ve discussed
using focus groups. Each of the firms that
we interviewed recommended that we not shortchange
the time needed to get congregational input.
We broke ground in August of 2007.

questions about the church rebuilding process?

Or if you have a general question, suggestion
or concern about the church rebuilding process,
contact the chairperson of the Rebuilding

7. How will we be kept informed?
Besides the work of the Communications Committee, the firm we picked plans to have a monthly sheet in the Trumpet describing where they stand in the design and build process. They will also have regular monthly meetings with the Building Committee, Council and/or Congregation.
8. When will we hire a contractor?
It looks like we may hire a contractor right away. It is the hope of the architect that the contractor will be in the design and visioning process. The sooner they are in the process, the earlier we will be able to have a fixed price for the new building. It is also assumed that the contractor as well as the architectural firm will be working for the Church rather than the contractor working for the architect. But all will function as a team.
9. What Churches have given money to our rebuilding fund?
A number of individual churches, as well as United Church of Christ Conferences, have donated to our church rebuilding fund. They are: Peace UCC, Kewaskum; Community UCC, St. Germain; First United Presbyterian Church, Vernon; St. Paul's UCC, Wausau; Faith UCC, Slinger; St. John's, Manitowoc; Ascension Lutheran, Waukesha; WI Conference UCC, Cleveland; WI Conference UCC, DeForest, WI; Salem UCC, Plymouth; First UCC, Green Bay; Faith Church of Milwaukee; First Congregational Church, Waukesha; Southminster Presbyterian Church, Waukesha; UCC, Neillsville; St. John's UCC, Phoenixville, PA; East Troy, First; Mattapoisett Congregational UCC, Mattapoisett, MA; Evening Circle of Hope UCC, Fremont, WI; Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church; and
