Our
Congregation was founded in the year 1866
by German immigrants who moved to the Waukesha
area of Wisconsin in the middle of the 19th
century. The American Civil War was just over
and the long difficult road toward national
healing had begun. Meanwhile German immigrants
were heading to the new land in droves. A
quick check of our baptismal records for that
period of time suggests that these folks came
from all over Northern Germany. It is clear, however,
that this congregation was of a German Reformed
tradition which points back to Calvin and
Zwingli both of Switzerland. However a relative few were from Switzerland. Many
were from Pommerania and larger Prussia.
We are presently a vibrant congregation with
a mixture of ages. It's wonderful to hear
infants cry out during our time of worship.
It's a sign of life and growth.
Our worship services tend to be of what is
being called a "blended" variety.
There are many traditional hymns and responses,
but we are embracing the newer hymns such
as Twila Paris' marvelous, "Lamb of God"
(which I'd like to sing every Sunday if I
could get away with it!)
If you need information about your ancestors
and you think that the records might be here,
please feel free to write us, call us or visit
our offices. We hope that you will understand
that there will be a small fee for such record
searches. Note: Because of our fire, most of our records are in storage and we can't get to them until we move into the new building sometime in September of '08.
